ABM-100
I can't find the app download
There are links to the download for Apple and Android on our home page at http://www.cpsproducts.com/hvacr/smart-tools/. The apps can be found in the Apple Store and on Google Play by searching for “CPS Link”
It gives a reading of zero
Does it show zero for volume and velocity? If it shows a velocity reading only, then one of the dimensions is missing or is zero.
How to use the meter to balance supply and return or calculate manual J
There are some excellent training videos available on Youtube. Just go to youtube.com and search for “how to calculate manual J”
The meter is physically broken
Please take the meter to the location you purchased it for an instant counter exchange.
How accurate is the meter?
It is accurate to within 1/2 of 1% at up to 15 degrees off axis, the meter has a sampling rate of 22,000 times per second, it then transmits six averaged readings to the phone per second, the phone then averages those 180 readings into the result. This is more accurate than using a ruler to mark a grille and then take 4 or 5 measurements and then average those together using a notepad and calculator because we greatly reduce the margin of error.
The meter will not read under 100 FPM.
The range of our ABM-100 is 160 FPM-11,000 FPM. The ABM-200 has a much lower cut-in speed (targeting 44 FPM).
The meter will not work with my iPhone
Are you using a bluetooth earpiece? If so, please go to settings>general> accessiblity> and turn off the Mono Audio Setting
Do you have extension cables or poles?
We do not recommend using extension cables because many phones have insufficient power to transmit across a cable. We have found that you can use up to a 3′ 3.5mm Stereo Headphone/Mic cable from Radio Shack on Apple devices without issue. Our ABM-200 is designed specifically for remote operation and uses Bluetooth Smart and has it’s own power supply. We also offer a 64″ extension pole for use with the ABM-200 and other wireless devices.
Iphone 6 Issue
Please make sure the following steps are completed:
- Settings > General > Accessibility > Mono Audio = OFF (gray)
- Settings > Privacy > Microphone > ABM-100 = ON (green)
- Settings > Music > Volume Limit = OFF (gray).
- For iPhone6, (6 Plus) that are having issues connecting with the app. There may be an issue with a limited number of models produced which not only impacts the ABM-100, but also headphone/mics and other devices that try to connect with the iPhone 6 (6 Plus) via the headphone jack.
- It seems the iPhone has some protective circuitry that shuts the audio jack down if it senses a surge or short circuit. This may happen sometimes with the iPhone 6 issue. The jack is reactivated on reboot. Please reboot your device, open the app, and insert the ABM-100
- If your ABM-100 is still not recognized, Please check that it is fully inserted(this may take a few attempts removing and inserting the ABM-100 Try this at least ten times). Please test your supplied headphone/mic and see if it works properly.
- A thin insulating rubber or plastic spacer on your headphone/mic or ABM-100 may solve the issue. Please see the link at the apple support forum with detailed pictures on how to achieve this: iPhone 6 headphone jack Issues https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6546098
The readings are different on my iPad vs iPhone
The readings are different because you are probably blocking some of the free space with the larger iPad and increasing the velocity of the air (much like putting your finger over a garden hose). Try using a mic/headphone extension cable (up to 36″) with the iPad or try holding the iPad as close to the edge of the grille as possible. This issue can also be resolved by upgrading to the new wireless ABM-200.
How do I apply the AK factor?
Under settings enter the % of area that is blocked by the grille (see our AK calculator tool if needed)
Should I be putting in the dimensions of the grille or duct size?
In this situation we recommend using your best judgement as follows. If there is enough room between the duct opening and the grille that the air is evenly diffused across the grille surface, than you can get an accurate reading without having to remove the grille, (use the rectangular dimensions of the grille opening). If there is not enough room for the air to diffuse fully or you are not sure, you will always get an accurate reading by removing the grille and reading the airflow directly at the round take-off.
How do I take a traverse reading?
1. Place the meter in the center of the grille and and hit start
2. Slowly move the meter from side to side (to within 1.5″ of each side) for the full 30 seconds
The app won't work on my Iphone
When you first downloaded the app, did you select “no” when asked for access to microphone, location services, contacts. If so, completely delete the app off of your phone and iCloud. Once you redownload the app you will be asked the series of questions again. Make sure to yes, our meter relies on power from the microphone portion of the phone.
Different devices are giving different readings
If the accuracy is off it means that the meter is not getting sufficient power from the headphone portion of the phone. This is almost never an issue on iPhones. On most Androids turning the volume up all the way on the side of the phone does not turn the system volume up. You have to go into the phone settings and turn the system volume up to 100%, which should resolve the issue. Dirt and debris in the headphone jack can also cause some inconsistencies in reading accuracy. There are instructional videos on YouTube on how to clean the headphone jack or the phone should be taken in for service. Upgrading to the wireless Bluetooth ABM-200 is suggested if the issue cannot be resolved.

The meter is reading incorrect temperature
Customer needs to give the ABM-200 enough time to adjust to current conditions. Make sure to remove all obstructions from the rear and front ports of the sensor. Move the meter away from direct sunlight.

The app is showing the incorrect temperature
We get the SPM-100 temperature reading from your closest weather station. Sometimes the weather station will transmit one reading per day. This is why the outside temperature is not reading correct. These readings will improve the local weather stations transmit more frequent readings.
The blue light on the SPM-100 is no longer turning on
This is usually due to a dead battery. Please try replacing the battery and see if that fixes the issue. The battery is a CR 2450 battery. You can purchase one at any drug store.
TS-100
Why is my "Feels Like" Temperature reading 100 + when it is 38 degrees outside?
The “Feels Like” reading is based on ASHRAE Standard 55. This is designed for indoor occupied spaces and has a lower threshold of 42.3 F. There is a detailed explanation of ASHRAE Standard 55 in the app, press the question mark on the comfort zone screen. ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 55-2013, Thermal Environmental Conditions for Human Occupancy, specifies conditions for acceptable thermal environments and is intended for use in design, operation, and commissioning of buildings and other occupied spaces.
